wish customer service jobs operated w video game standards, so a customer would come up to me and i’d say “greetings traveler! looking to trade?” and they’d only had 4 options for their response

i’d just stand there wiping down the same part of the counter for 8 hours until my shift ended and then id drop everything and walk away and if you tried to interact with me i’d just keep running into you silently until you moved

Honestly, “Greetings, traveler! Are you looking to trade?” Is a GREAT way to greet customers and I’d appreciate it.

We should be more pro-active or we’ll see more of such sad fates of honest people.

And the utterly ironic thing is I’ve seen repeated tumblr posts of that iconic photo absolutely slagging the shit out of Peter Norman as “lol white guy so uncomfortable”   “Why the fuck isn’t he supporting them”, etc etc.

As an Australian this post surprised me. I knew none of the above.

Spreading for Australian awareness ❤

Baby-Doll
Batman: The Animated Series

This is one criminally underrated Batman villain.

SERIOUSLY THOUGH SHE WAS MY FAVORITE BATMAN VILLAIN

Her physical condition didn’t allow her to age

No one took her seriously as an actress

And even when she was trying to get into a happy romantic relationship (albeit with another villain) he still couldn’t take her seriously as a consenting, sexually active and romantically interested adult

That’s a lot of blows to someone’s psyche

and Babydoll is both a sympathetic villain and a formidable one

I remember this episode fucked me up a a kid.

And man, do I wish we could see this Batman again: the Batman that consoles his villains, because the majority (if not all) of them are mentally ill people. And Batman knows this and wants them healthy again, not punished and GOD definitely not dead.

Baby Doll is so underrated as a Batman villain

but her episode was perfect

Batman: The Animated Series

The story of one fucked up, traumatized little boy, doing his best to help other fucked up traumatized people.

#this show is the only batcanon that matters to me #dc can burn everything else down but they’ll never pry the dcau from cold dead clawed hands

The Batman that cares about the inmates is my favorite. He doesn’t put up with their shit, but he does try to reach out here and there and he’s as human as he can be to them.

When Harley was re-institutionalized, he got her that dress she wanted.

In the comics based on B:tAS, there was a time during Christmas that there was snow and it was Mr. Freeze’s fault, and he was making it snow because Christmas was his anniversary with Nora and she LOVED it when it snowed on Christmas, so Batman let him finish mourning before calmly taking him back to Arkham.

He never, ever gives up on Harvey possibly recovering.

Sure, Batman is going to throw punches and do what it takes to take these guys down when they’re hurting or threatening people. And he’s not going be a complete bleeding heart; he has to protect the innocent. He’s going to take them down and take them back to Arkham, but it doesn’t mean he’s incapable of being a bit human to the ones who deserve it.

Batman needs become human again

Because it needs to be here:

Movie Pitch

A strict all girls boarding school is across a river from a strict all boys boarding school.

Boys and girls are forbidden from fraternizing, but they find sneaky ways to form friendships and even date. I assume there is heavily monitored internet and phones are for emergencies only so they have to resort to more unconventional methods of communication. (Messages in bottles, a system of mirrors, writing on chalkboards and putting them in the windows ect.ect.)

Until one day a shy boy at the boys boarding school tells his best friend (and the leader of a resident well meaning boys gang) that he actually feels more like a girl.

The gang leader contacts the leader of a girl gang across the river and they begin to plan an overly elobrate heist to smuggle the shy trans girl across the river in exchange for a chill tomboy and the two will assume each other’s lives until they graduate.

Hijinks ensue as they pull a ‘Great-Esacpe’ style mission to avoid detection from the overly strict headmasters and an overly passionate team of campus security guards.

Friendships are tested, there is lots of home-alone style logic to outsmart the adults, and there is romantic tension between the leaders of the gangs as they put aside their differences to help their two friends find a place to be themselves. It is light-hearted in tone but is also over the top and everyone plays it way too serious to the point of comedy. The two kids swapping places have classic “parent trap” style hijinks pretending to be the other person and avoid detection.

Think “kids next door” + “recess” but shot like a heist movie.

Add a funny character actor as a dopey but well meaning janitor and you got a stew going.

As a parent of two young impressionable children I 100% would take them to see this movie.

Since last year, I’ve seen this headline around a lot as a description of our current political divide:

But it wasn’t until today that I found out there was a response article to it:

Seriously, this shit would be cartoonish and unbelievable in fiction, and yet someone actually wrote it.

Isn’t there a word about being compelled to do something against your will? Call me silly but I was under the impression that this is, you know, generally a bad thing.

I’m sorry that “saying you should care about people and not be a selfish asshole” is such an oppressive and awful thing to hear. Life must be a real struggle for you, having been attacked by things like Mr. Rogers and Sesame Street as a child.

“caring about others goes against my will” that would be such a massive self-burn if they were even slightly aware that a complete lack of compassion is not a point of pride

I’m facepalming at the implication that saying “hey, you should have basic human empathy for others!” Could possibly be construed as compelling anyone to do anything against their will. And they say liberals are oversensitive…
